Scope:

This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, and shapes.

Rationale:

As we had received no orders for 2090-T86 material for some years, and improved materials were available, Alcoa requested the alloy/temper be deactivated through the Aluminum Association. This was accomplished and I requested that AMS4232 be cancelled and that was approved (AMS4232B). Earlier this year, a customer asked for this 2090-T86 material, as their system will not allow alternate material use. Accordingly, Alcoa petitioned the Aluminum Association for reactivation of the alloy/temper and it was granted. This project will reactivate AMS4232.
