Scope:

This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of investment castings.

Rationale:

AMS 5344F corrects errors introduced during publication of AMS 5344E. The following changes are incorporated since AMS 5344D: The specification has been revised to remove the requirement to test for and certify tantalum, permit cooling to room temperature after homogenization heat treatment, remove contradictory statements that implied tensile property evaluations were to be conducted on a master heat basis, perform non-destructive inspection and special processes in accordance with applicable ASTM or AMS in lieu of the previously required MIL specs, update reporting requirements and add new provisions for serialization, and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification.
