This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) describes the multi-pass method for evaluating the filtration performance of fine lube filter elements, commonly utilized in aerospace power and propulsion lubrication systems: gas turbine engines, auxiliary power units (APUs), helicopter transmissions, constant speed drives (CSDs), and integrated drive generators (IDGs).

Rationale:

The document is being revised for: (1) correction of one error in conversion units of gpm to lpm in Section 4, (2) clarification of some definitions in gloassry of terms, (3) deletion of NIST SRM 2806 reference dust lot in 1.3 since this is no longer the only reference lot, (4) correction in 5.2.3, (5) editorial change in 6.5.1.2 for clarification of procedure (no technical change), (5) editorial change in 7.6, and (6) clarifications in 5.2.2 and 7.7.
