Network Layer

2018-03-28
WIP
J1939/31
SAE J1939-31 Network Layer describes the requirements and services for Network Interconnection ECUs (NIECU) that enable electronic control units (ECUs) on a network segment to intercommunicate with other ECUs on different network segments of the vehicle network. This document defines various types of NIECUs. The information in this document applies only to ECUs that are intended to provide networking services. It is not necessary for an ECU to provide any of these services in order to be compliant with the SAE J1939 protocol.

WIP
J3171
It is expected that level 4 and 5 Automated Driving System - dedicated vehicles (ADS-DVs) will eventually enable persons to travel at will who are otherwise unable to obtain a driver's license for a conventional vehicle, namely, persons with visual, physical, and/or cognitive impairments. The purpose of this information report is to document user issues specific to this population of ADS-DV users.

WIP
J918
This SAE Standard provides minimum performance requirements and accompanying uniform laboratory test procedures for evaluating certain essential characteristics of new tires and newly retreaded tires intended for use on passenger cars. (The requirements published in this SAE Standard pertain to tire sizes currently used on American passenger cars and popular sizes used on imported passenger cars. For related information on tire sizes not listed, contact SAE Automotive Headquarters, 18121 East Eight Mile Road, East Detroit, Michigan 48021.)

Event Data Recorder - Retrieval Tool Protocol

2018-03-18
CURRENT
J1698/2_201803
This Recommended Practice utilizes existing industry standards to identify a common physical interface and define the protocols necessary to retrieve records stored by light duty vehicle Event Data Recorders (EDRs). To accomplish this, the SAE J1962 Diagnostic Connector is designated as the primary physical interface for EDR Retrieval Tools. This Recommended Practice is intended to be used for the development of EDR Retrieval Tools. Retrieval tools are intended to interface with light duty vehicles and to produce EDR Record Reports with data element formats specified by SAE J1698-1. Limitations: This Recommend Practice specifies how EDR records should be imaged, translated, and reported by EDR Retrieval Tools. It does not specify how EDR records are recorded and stored by individual vehicles.

Tire Quasi-Static Envelopment of Triangular/Step Cleats Test

2018-03-18
CURRENT
J2705_201803
This SAE Recommended Practice describes a test method for determining properties of a non-rolling tire quasi-statically enveloping either a set of triangular cleats or a single step cleat. In the case of the triangular cleats the normal force and vertical deflection of the non-rolling tire are determined. In the case of the step cleats the normal force, longitudinal force, and vertical deflection of the non-rolling tire are determined. The method applies to any tire so long as the equipment is properly sized to correctly conduct the measurements for the intended test tire.1 The data are intended for use in determining parameters for road load models and for comparative evaluations of the measured properties in research and development. NOTE: Herein, road load models are models for predicting forces applied to the vehicle spindles during operation over irregular pavements. Within the context of this document, forces applied to the pavement are not considered.

Automotive Pipe Fittings

2018-03-18
CURRENT
J530_201803
This SAE Standard includes complete general and dimensional specifications for those types of pipe fittings commonly used in the automotive and other mass production industries where the use of lubricants or sealers is objectionable. The automotive pipe fittings shown in Figures 1 to 17 and Tables 1 to 6 are intended for general automotive and similar applications involving low or medium pressures or in conjunction with automotive tube fittings in piping systems.

Recommended Practice for Determining Material Properties of Li-Battery Cathode Active Materials

2018-03-15
WIP
J3021
This SAE RP provides a set of test methods and practices for the characterization of the properties of Li-battery cathode active material. It is not within the scope of this document to establish criteria for the test results, as these are usually established between the vendor and customer. It is not within the scope of this document to examine the rheological properties of the cathode material in slurry since such properties are influenced by the conductive additive and the solid loading, which are determined through discussion between the manufacturer and user. It is not within the scope of this document to examine the electrochemical properties of cathode materials since these are influenced by electrode design. The committee considers that it is impossible to establish an electrode design that would be appropriate for all cathode active materials.
