Performance Specifications for a Midsize Male Pedestrian Research Dummy

2018-02-23
WIP
J2782
While it is recognized that collisions involve pedestrians of all sizes, this Information Report addresses performance specifications for a 50th percentile adult male research dummy. This approach stems from the greater knowledge of biomechanics and existing dummy technologies for the mid-size male relative to other adult sizes and children. While not the initial objective, it is envisioned that additional performance specifications for other sizes of pedestrian research dummies will be developed in the future based on accepted scaling procedures. The specific requirements for the pedestrian dummy have been based on a collective assessment of pedestrian injury, response, and anthropometry priorities from the experimental, epidemiologic, and computational literature. In general, the objective was to specify performance specifications based on human characteristics and the impact response of post-mortem human subjects rather than to specify the design of a particular physical device.

Special Purpose Alloys ("Superalloys")

2018-02-15
CURRENT
J467B_201802
The data given in Tables 1–4 are typical values only and are not intended for design parameters. Mechanical properties of the special purpose alloys depend greatly upon processing variables and heat treatment. It is recommended that design data be obtained by actual testing or by consultation with the producers of the alloys.

Wrought Nickel and Nickel-Related Alloys

2018-02-15
CURRENT
J470_201802
This Report presents general information on over 50 alloys in which nickel either predominates or is a significant alloying element. It covers primarily wrought materials, and is not necessarily all inclusive. Values given are in most cases average or nominal, and if more precise values are required the producer(s) should be contacted. This report does not cover the so-called "superalloys," or the iron base stainless steels. Refer to SAE J467, Special Purpose Alloys, and SAE J405, Chemical Compositions of SAE Wrought Stainless Steels, respectively, for data on these alloys.

Wet or Dry Pavement Passenger Car Tire Peak and Locked Wheel Braking Traction

2018-02-15
CURRENT
J345_201802
This SAE Recommended Practice defines the best known techniques for evaluating peak and locked wheel braking traction. It covers an important phase of tire braking traction, namely, the wet or dry pavement straight ahead conditions. However, this is but a small portion of the whole field of tire traction. As test procedures are established for other phases of this complex study, additional supplementary procedures will be written. A discussion of this entire subject is contained in Appendix B to this recommended practice.

Specification for O-Ring Face Seal Connectors: Part 1 - Tube Connection Details and Common Requirements for Performance and Tests

2018-02-12
WIP
J1453/1
1.1 Purpose The three parts of SAE J1453 cover material, dimensional, and performance requirements of steel O-ring face seal (ORFS) connectors for tubing and the O-ring face seal interface and nut portion of hose stem assemblies for nominal tube diameters of 6 mm through 50 mm. 1.2 Field of Application These connectors are intended for general application and hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products, where elastomeric seals are acceptable to overcome leakage and variations in assembly procedures. These connectors are capable of providing leak proof full flow connections in hydraulic systems operating from 95 kPa vacuum to the working pressures shown in Tables 1 and 2. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, these values should not be construed as guaranteed minimums.

CURRENT
J2907_201802
This document was developed to provide a method of obtaining repeatable measurements that accurately reflects the performance of a propulsion electric drive subsystem, whose output is used in an electrified vehicle regardless of complexity or number of energy sources. The purpose is to provide a familiar and easy-to-understand performance rating. Whenever there is an opportunity for interpretation of the document, a good faith effort shall be made to obtain the typical in-service performance and characteristics and avoid finding the best possible performance under the best possible conditions. Intentional biasing of operating parameters or assembly tolerances to optimize performance for this test shall not be considered valid results in the scope of this document.
