Scope:

These methods of test are applicable for determining the resistance to snagging and abrasion of automotive bodycloth, vinyl, and leather.

Rationale:

3.1.1 Removed reference to Model No. 5135.

3.2 Changed tolerance for relative humidity from 50% ± 5% to 50% ± 10%.

3.3.3 Changed “Dust” to “Lightly brush”; add “to remove any loose debris”.

3.3.6 Changed “at” to “to”.

4.1.1 Changed “remain” to “measure”; add “are outside of this range or”; change “36 grit” to “50 grit” (to match requirements of ASTM D4157); delete “for 400 cycles or” (this is not necessary with the statement ‘until they conform to the shape of the drum); delete “and re-insert in the same holder and in the same position” (once the rubber pad is resurfaced, it should not be removed); add “remove or”.

4.1.3 Added “Acrylic Adhesive” to description of 3M 400.

4.2 Changed tolerance for relative humidity from 50% ±5% to 50% ±10%.

4.3.1 and 4.3.1.1 Changed “double-backed” to “double-faced”.
