Process Control Methods

Scope:

This document covers the process to be applied to Key Characteristics (KC’s) - as defined in AS9103 - on parts, part families or processes as defined by the purchaser or producer. These requirements apply to any product feature, process, or key process input that influences tha ability of the producer to meet or exceed the customer variation management requirements. KC’s include product and process features that benefit from variation management and have a positive impact on Quality, Cost, Delivery and performance of the finished product by the purchaser or their suppliers.. Design characteristics not included within the scope include those on commercially standard parts (for which the customer does not hold design authority) Suppliers who outsource parts with customer key characteristics are responsible for the flow-down of this standard.….

Rationale:

The purpose of this document is to define the requirements for controlling product and process characteristics that benefit from variation management and have a positive impact on Quality, Cost, Delivery and performance of the finished product by the purchaser or their suppliers. Use of this document and supporting methods provide benefit to both supplier and customer through control and capability.
