Commercial Space Flight Seat Restraints

Standard:
Issuing:
Scope:

This standard shall apply to all commercial human suborbital spaceflights governed by the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004.

Rationale:

Craft for commercial human spaceflight employ a wide variety of flight profiles, restraints for crew and spaceflight participants, vehicle shapes and sizes. For that reason, it is not possible at the present time to define standard acceleration envelopes for nominal and off-nominal flights. Still, there is a large amount of prior data on human tolerance to acceleration, and how to design restraint systems for crew and spaceflight participants.
