General Agreement on Strain Rate Control for Applicable Committee F Specifications

Scope:

This is a general agreement applicable to Committee F specifications for materials which are deemed to be sensitive to strain rate during tensile testing.

Rationale:

Recent changes to ASTM E8 for tensile testing can potentially have adverse consequences for strain-rate sensitive materials. This general agreement proposes wording to be used to control strain rate of tensile tests in those Committee F materials which are deemed strain-rate sensitive.
