Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Interoperability with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)

Standard:
Scope:

This SAE Recommended Practice J2953/1 establishes requirements and specification by which a specific Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) pair can be considered interoperable. The test procedures are further described in J2953/2.

Rationale:

This document has completed the initial version that defines the requirements for PEV to EVSE interoperability for the J1772™ control pilot and prox circuits. This revision (V2) will add DC Charging and the digital communications associated with it. The update to the DC Charging signals are included in J2847/2 and recent testing with some PEVs and EVSEs will launch this effort to define interoperability already accomplished and expand as more product is included. Any diagnostics resulting from this will also be added to J2836/4™ Use Cases and J2847/4 Messages and Signals so the interaction of issues can be conveyed.
