Test Procedures for the Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Interoperability with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)

Standard:
Scope:

This SAE Recommended Practice SAE J2953/2 establishes the test procedures to ensure the interoperability of Plug-In Vehicles (PEV) and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) for multiple suppliers.

Rationale:

This document defines the test procedures for interoperability and has completed the initial version that correlates with J2953/1 for interoperability requirements for the J1772™ control pilot and prox circuits. This revision (V2) will add DC Charging and the digital communications associated with it. The update to the DC Charging signals are included in J2847/2 and recent testing with some PEVs and EVSEs will launch this effort to define interoperability already accomplished and expand as more product is included. Any diagnostics resulting from this will also be added to J2836/4™ Use Cases and J2847/4 Messages and Signals so the interaction of issues can be conveyed.
